Atlanta Falcons release QB Michael Vick!

Well...what do ya think? Think he could play for the Houston Texans? Why not give him a shot?

The Atlanta Falcons have released Michael Vick and he is eligible to sign with any NFL or CFL team. However, the NFL has not yet reinstated him. Vick's incarceration sentence ends July 20. NFL Commissioner, Roger Goodell, plans to meet with Vick post his complete release.

But, in the meantime, let's just say that there's not an option for him to play in the NFL because of all the negative publicity and pressure signing him would bring to that team. In PR circles BAD publicity is better than NO publicity. But, how badly does an NFL team want the shenanigans and how much attention does that particular NFL team really need? BTW...there were some rumblings in San Francisco about the 49'ers.

However, the prospective-Vick NFL team could choose to completely ignore that negative pub that their probably going to get thinking that Vick can help the team win, or they can choose to simply embrace the attention and realize that the pub-seeking-organizations responsible for the creating the hub-bub only wants attention for their cause anyway and that has nothing to do with football. At the end of the day, it's all about wins and losses and whether or not a person can help your team win.

I understand both sides. But, I like the side that says give a talented person, allegedly, an opportunity to rectify their wrong and tell those outside organizations to find another creative way to seek attention for their cause! They should have talented people within their organizations to create new and better ways to communicate their ideas and cause to the public.

What do you think about this...and oh, BTW! Do you think the Texans should give Vick a shot?
Let your voice be heard and respond to the question.

Meanwhile, this is what we knew Vick could do!

And then this!

  1. The only way the Texans will go after Vick is with a blessing from the Pope. McNair doesn't have the nads nor the interest in acquiring a player with such public baggage... it's a moral/business thing or whatever. I think the Texans would prefer the world to see the team as a bunch of tree hugging milk drinkers...rather than an ass crunching, in your face team that would do almost anything to win.

Remember the Astros (if you can)slogan recently that referred to the team as "the good guys". Funny, they didn't make it to the World Series until Clemens and Pettitte showed up chewing "juicy fruit gum"... well, at least Pettitte admitted it. It really sucks, but it appears the nice guys finish last all too often in this world today. Hello Vick... goodbye Vick.

  2. You might be right "anonymous". However, shouldn't rule out anything. Maybe it's time the Texans get a little "nasty" in them since the game they play is a "nasty" game. A player can still be a great guy and play the game. I'm sure we can name many of them. But, there's that little something extra that guy need to have on Sunday afternoon that not even the nasty guys have. But, I think Mike Vick might have it!

Vick is "hongry" and looking for an opportunity and I believe he will do what he has to do on the field to play and stay on the fiel after his body gets re-acclimated to the speed of the game.

BTW...if San Francisco will take a chance on Vick, certainly the Texans should consider.
